Peralta and Hicks lead Rays past Guardians 3-1 to level ALCS
Freddy Peralta threw six scoreless innings and Liam Hicks hit a two-run single as Tampa Bay tied the series at 1-1.
Tampa Bay beat Cleveland 3-1 at Tropicana Field on 13 October 2026 to tie the American League Championship Series at one game apiece. Freddy Peralta pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out six.
All three Tampa Bay runs came in the fourth inning and were unearned. A Jose Ramirez fielding error allowed the first run to score and extended the inning; Liam Hicks followed with a two-run single to create the 3-0 lead. The rally supplied all the support the Rays' pitching staff required.
Cleveland scored in the seventh, but Tampa Bay protected the two-run advantage. Bryan Baker completed a perfect ninth inning for his fourth save of the postseason. The final result reversed the Rays' Game 1 loss and ensured the teams would head to Cleveland with the best-of-seven series level.
The MLB final recap and independent AP report establish the completed game, scoring sequence and pitching line. The 1-1 series score describes the position immediately after Game 2, not a claim that the series has finished. The event date and this report's later publication timestamp remain separate.
