Dallas defeated Colorado 3-2 in a shootout at Ball Arena on 14 October 2026. Roope Hintz scored the deciding attempt in the fourth round, and Casey DeSmith stopped Brock Nelson to secure the Stars' win.

Gabriel Landeskog opened the scoring for Colorado in the second period before Miro Heiskanen equalised. Arttu Hyry's short-handed goal at 1:20 of the third gave Dallas a 2-1 lead, but Nelson tied the game at 8:21. Neither team scored in overtime, leaving the regulation-and-overtime score at 2-2.

Jason Robertson also converted for Dallas in the shootout, while Nazem Kadri scored for Colorado. DeSmith made 25 saves during regulation and overtime and stopped three of four shootout attempts. Scott Wedgewood made 20 saves for the Avalanche, with Kadri also contributing two assists in normal play.

The result split the home-and-home set after Colorado's 3-2 victory in Dallas the previous night. It is a different underlying fixture, with a different venue, date and decision method. The official 3-2 final includes the shootout award; Hintz's deciding attempt is not counted as a regulation goal.
