UEFA Women’s World Cup play-off first legs set up 16 return fixtures
Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands won 8-0, Switzerland scored seven and the Türkiye-Slovenia tie remained level after the completed opening legs.
All 16 first legs in round one of UEFA qualifying play-offs for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup were completed on 9 October 2026. Republic of Ireland won 8-0 in Kazakhstan and the Netherlands matched that margin in Hungary; Switzerland won 7-3 away to Israel and Sweden beat Lithuania 5-0.
The other completed scores were Finland 3-1 Serbia, Kosovo 1-2 Austria, Albania 0-1 Wales, Türkiye 3-3 Slovenia, Slovakia 1-3 Ukraine, Belarus 0-2 Italy, Greece 1-3 England, Croatia 0-4 Iceland, Romania 0-2 Norway, Czechia 0-2 Scotland, Northern Ireland 0-4 Portugal and Belgium 1-0 Poland.
These were opening legs, not final aggregate decisions. The return matches are scheduled for 13 October, after which eight round-one winners will advance to the second play-off round. Denmark, France, Germany and Spain had already qualified directly as League A group winners.
UEFA states that the second round will determine seven direct European berths and one place in the inter-confederation play-offs. The Swedish federation separately confirmed its 5-0 win in Lithuania, including Felicia Schröder’s hat-trick, while this report keeps the round-level result as one underlying development rather than splitting 16 fixtures into filler stories.
The round identity and all results were checked against the full archive, the empty live posts table, recent News and homepage streams, sport and country pages, the calendar and durable log before publication.
