Bahrain won its first Asian Games men's handball title with a 33-32 victory over Qatar at ENTRIO on 29 September. The one-goal result ended the reigning champions' attempt to secure a fourth consecutive Games title.

Bahrain led 16-15 at half-time. The second half finished level at 17-17, preserving that narrow advantage; Fadhul Ahmed scored Bahrain's decisive goal in the final minute.

Japan secured the bronze medal by beating Korea 37-32 earlier in the evening. The Olympic Council of Asia confirmed the final result and medal outcome, with Bahrain's gold-medal win independently reported by The Daily Tribune.
