Japan beat Mali 102-97, Australia defeated Puerto Rico 70-54, USA beat China 94-61 and Korea overcame Nigeria 99-81 on the opening day of the FIBA Women’s World Cup.

Belgium beat Türkiye 89-75, Spain defeated Germany 83-53, Italy earned its first World Cup win in more than 30 years by beating Czechia 63-54, and France beat Hungary 99-53.
