Mahmut Can Çilkız

Life and work

The story behind the role.

Mahmut Can Çilkız, also introduced as Mahmutcan Çilkız in iintroo interviews, is a hockey umpire registered with the Türkiye Hockey Federation. His domestic work covers field umpiring, the scoring table, timekeeping and reserve duties.

His international record includes an EHF appointment to the men’s EuroHockey Championship III in Lousada, Portugal, held from 1 to 7 August 2021. The FIH appointment document lists him as ÇILKIZ Mahmut, representing Türkiye, with the appointment confirmed.

The following year, FIH listed him among the confirmed national umpires appointed by the EHF for the men’s U21 EuroHockey Junior Championship II. That tournament took place in Plzeň Litice, Czech Republic, from 24 to 30 July 2022.

The federation profile reviewed on 4 October 2026 records 765 officiating assignments: 477 on the field, 44 at the scoring table, 94 as timekeeper and 150 in reserve. These are the public database’s recorded assignments at that date, rather than an independently established total for his entire career.

In iintroo’s Umpire’s Opinion interview published on 19 August 2026, he discussed hockey rules and the 2026 World Cup from an international umpire’s perspective, including his tournament prediction.
