The final result
Ronald Stampfer won the men's European Cup giant slalom at Krompachy-Plejsy on 6 January 2000. The Austrian's final total was 2:09.46, giving him a 0.68-second advantage over compatriot Rainer Schönfelder. Sami Uotila of Finland finished third, 0.76 seconds behind Stampfer and only 0.08 behind Schönfelder.
Italy occupied the next three positions in the completed classification. Alessandro Roberto was fourth at 0.94 seconds, Walter Girardi fifth at 1.07 and Arnold Rieder sixth at 1.14. Stampfer was the only racer below 2:10 in the published final totals, while the second and third places were decided by less than a tenth.
The giant slalom opened a two-day men's European Cup programme at the Slovak venue, followed by a separate slalom on 7 January. The result therefore belongs to the technical giant-slalom competition and its combined final time, not a qualification or training session. Austria's first and second places were the leading national outcome in this race, ahead of Finland and the three Italian finishers.
