Patrick Wirth wins Les Orres super-G by five hundredths
Patrick Wirth won the men's European Cup super-G at Les Orres on 28 January 2000 by just five hundredths of a second. The Austrian finished in 1:18.62, narrowly ahead of Italy's Ivan Bormolini. Another Austrian, Stephan Görgl, placed third, 0.29 seconds behind the winning time.

Patrick Wirth won the men's European Cup super-G at Les Orres on 28 January 2000 by just five hundredths of a second. The Austrian finished in 1:18.62, narrowly ahead of Italy's Ivan Bormolini. Another Austrian, Stephan Görgl, placed third, 0.29 seconds behind the winning time.
Christoph Gruber was fourth at 0.41 seconds, followed by Norbert Holzknecht at 0.60 and Martin Kammerlander at 0.65. Austria occupied five of the first six places, with Bormolini the sole Italian in that leading group. Wirth and Bormolini were separated from Görgl by a further 0.24 seconds in the contest for the podium positions.
The super-G completed the three classified men's European Cup speed races at Les Orres. Wirth had shared first in the opening downhill, while Bormolini followed fourth and second in the two downhills with another runner-up finish here. Gruber was fourth in both the second downhill and super-G after his joint opening victory. The 28 January result is the final classification of this distinct super-G, with its own time and finishing gaps.
