Raphaël Burtin wins Courchevel giant slalom by twelve hundredths
Raphaël Burtin won the men's European Cup giant slalom in Courchevel on 20 January 2000 by 0.12 seconds. His final total of 2:13.08 narrowly beat Norway's Bjarne Solbakken. Finland's Sami Uotila completed the podium, 0.71 seconds behind Burtin and 0.59 behind Solbakken.

Raphaël Burtin won the men's European Cup giant slalom in Courchevel on 20 January 2000 by 0.12 seconds. His final total of 2:13.08 narrowly beat Norway's Bjarne Solbakken. Finland's Sami Uotila completed the podium, 0.71 seconds behind Burtin and 0.59 behind Solbakken.
Austria's Rainer Schönfelder was fourth at 1.18 seconds. Alexander Ploner of Italy followed in fifth at 1.28, ahead of Sweden's Charlie Bergendahl in sixth at 1.32. Six national teams occupied the first six places. Only the podium finishers were within a second of the winning time, leaving 0.47 seconds between third and fourth.
The giant slalom opened Courchevel's two-day men's European Cup technical programme, with a slalom on 21 January. Burtin had already won the Kranjska Gora giant slalom and finished second in Pozza di Fassa earlier that month; this race added a home-country victory in France. Uotila also returned to a giant-slalom podium. The Courchevel classification is an independent race result with its own combined final time and official identifier.
