Audun Grønvold won the men's European Cup downhill at St. Anton on 14 January 2000. The Norwegian's final time of 1:55.75 was 0.25 seconds faster than Austria's Christoph Gruber. Italy's Ivan Bormolini, the winner of the previous day's downhill, finished third at 0.27 seconds, just 0.02 behind Gruber.
Andreas Buder was fourth at 0.37 seconds and Jernej Koblar fifth at 0.47. Roland Assinger completed the leading six at 0.78, giving Austria three finishers in that group. Grønvold's margin over the runner-up was a quarter of a second, while the second, third and fourth positions were contained within a further 0.12 seconds.
This was the second separate downhill in St. Anton's European Cup programme, before the super-G on 15 January. Grønvold had placed eighth in the opening downhill and moved to first in this new race. Bormolini remained on the podium after his earlier victory. The official race identifier and date distinguish the result from the preceding day's classification and from the subsequent super-G.
