The final result
Andrzej Bachleda won the men's European Cup slalom in Pozza di Fassa on 18 January 2000 with a final total of 1:39.56. Japan's Kentaro Minagawa placed second, 0.41 seconds behind. American Sacha Gros completed the podium at 0.43, just two hundredths from the runner-up.
France's Julien Lizeroux was fourth at 0.47 seconds, missing third by four hundredths. Sweden's Johan Brolenius finished fifth at 0.52, followed by compatriot Martin Hansson in sixth at 1.17. Five different national teams occupied the first five positions, and the places from second through fifth were contained within 0.11 seconds.
The final slalom completed Pozza's two-day men's European Cup technical programme, following the 17 January giant slalom. Bachleda's first place was the Polish victory in this separately classified race. Minagawa had also finished second in the Kranjska Gora slalom eight days earlier; here another narrow contest decided the positions behind the winner. The published gaps describe final elapsed-time differences rather than the accompanying FIS ranking-point values.
