The final result
Serguei Novikov won the men's 1.5km freestyle sprint at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Štrbské Pleso on 29 January 2000. The official final classification placed Oldřich Hakl second and Dirk Klessen third. The result came from the sprint final listing, which FIS records separately from the qualification competition held on the same date.
Roman Virolainen was fourth in the final order, ahead of Dmitri Tichkine in fifth and Veli Pekka Kurunmäki in sixth. Hallvard Børsheim placed seventh, with American skiers Kris Freeman and Torin Koos eighth and ninth. The final result is expressed as positions; the FIS final page does not supply a finishing time for these leading entries.
Chris Cook had led the separately published qualification table but finished seventeenth in the final classification. The distinction matters when identifying the championship winner: Novikov's first place is the completed event outcome. This report preserves the confirmed final order without treating qualifying times as medal-winning performances or manufacturing a final time gap that the result source does not provide.
