The Uzbek grandmaster claimed the Wijk aan Zee title as Andy Woodward won the Challengers.
Source publication date:
Nodirbek Abdusattorov won the 2026 Tata Steel Masters after thirteen rounds in Wijk aan Zee. The Uzbek grandmaster secured the title on his fourth appearance, having remained near the leaders through the final weekend in each of his previous campaigns.
Five players still had title chances before the final round: Abdusattorov, Javokhir Sindarov, Hans Niemann, Vincent Keymer and Jorden van Foreest. The tournament’s eighty-eighth edition ran from 16 January to 1 February and combined elite competition with extensive amateur events.
Andy Woodward won the Challengers section and earned an invitation to the 2027 Masters. Vasyl Ivanchuk and Aydin Suleymanli stayed in that title race until the last round. The organisers announced the next edition for 15 to 31 January 2027, again in Wijk aan Zee.
