Abruzzo honours race walker Serena Di Fabio in Teramo
Regional awards recognise international youth results and a rise to 71 affiliated clubs.

Serena Di Fabio was among the leading athletes honoured at Abruzzo’s athletics awards in Teramo. The race walker’s 2025 season included European under-20 10,000m silver, European team championship bronze, two Italian titles and four national under-20 records.
Michelle Canto was recognised after making her senior international debut, while Tamirat Del Prete was honoured for his Italian under-18 2,000m steeplechase title and fourth place at the European Youth Olympic Festival. Their coach Nicola Piro received the coach of the year award.
The ceremony also recognised another 34 athletes, along with clubs, administrators and competition officials. Regional president Massimo Pompei reported 71 affiliated clubs, a level last reached in 2006, and said Abruzzo recorded the largest proportional increase in athlete registrations among Italian regions.
