Aguirre and Alfonso open Cancún campaigns with new partners
The previous year’s finalists both won first-round matches in the Mexican P2.

Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso, who reached the 2025 Cancún final together, both won their 2026 opening matches with new partners. Aguirre teamed with Alex Arroyo to defeat Mexican players Amora and Acevedo 6–2, 6–2 at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre Costa Mujeres.
Alfonso and Sanyo Gutierrez defeated Maxi Sanchez Blasco and José Jiménez 6–3, 7–6. Edu Alonso with Juan Tello, and Javi García with Javier Barahona, also advanced from the first round. The García–Barahona victory set up a meeting with Chingotto and Galán.
The following day’s schedule would complete the men’s round-of-sixteen line-up before the top four seeds entered on Thursday. The women’s draw was due to begin with eight matches, determining first opponents for its eight seeded partnerships, who likewise started their campaigns on Thursday.
