Indiana Unified Rugby closes second season at state finals
Westside and Noblesville shared the championship stage in an inclusive non-contact format.
Source publication date:
Westside Rugby and Noblesville Rugby played the final match of Indiana’s second Unified Rugby season at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis on 25 May. Their appearance formed part of the Rugby Indiana State Finals schedule, giving inclusive participation a place alongside traditional championship fixtures.
Unified Rugby uses a non-contact flag format that brings players with and without disabilities together. The programme was developed through collaboration between Westside and Rugby Indiana, with Noblesville becoming an early adopter. The match emphasised participation and contribution rather than a published competitive result.
In its 10 June account, the national youth organisation said six additional programmes had expressed interest and were in early planning. Spring 2027 participation was an ambition, not confirmed membership of a future schedule. The completed season and prospective expansion are therefore distinct stages of the programme’s development.
