Alotaibi returns to training after treatment and a year away
The Saudi archer reflected on her competitive career while ruling out immediate international competition.
Source publication date:
Mashail Alotaibi described returning to archery training after completing cancer treatment and spending a year away from competition. In World Archery’s February profile, the Saudi athlete said she had chosen not to enter this season’s national selection and did not expect immediate international appearances.
Alotaibi began researching archery independently in 2013 and registered with the Saudi federation in 2018. National indoor and outdoor victories led to international selection, while a coaching course helped her become one of the early female coaches in her community.
She won team bronze at the Arab Women’s Clubs Championship before surgery and later competed at the 2021 world championships. Her account focused on rebuilding patiently and the personal purpose she found in training despite repeated interruptions.
