Alpine snowboarders rally behind Olympic campaign
More than seventy World Cup athletes supported a campaign to retain parallel giant slalom.

More than seventy FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup athletes backed a public campaign supporting parallel giant slalom’s place in the Winter Olympics. Athletes and children’s clubs contributed videos describing their connection to the discipline as Milano Cortina began.
Supporters included Ester Ledecká, Roland Fischnaller and Radoslav Yankov. Contributions came from countries including the United States, China, Czechia, Canada, Germany, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Poland, Korea and Japan, according to the federation’s report.
FIS said the campaign had reached more than one million users. The initiative made the discipline’s athletes visible in discussions about its Olympic future, with participants emphasising the opportunities for younger snowboarders to compete at a future Games.
