The American won their third meeting after losing the first two.
Source publication date:
Amanda Anisimova defeated Ajla Tomljanovic 6–1, 5–7, 6–4 in a disrupted Miami Open second-round match. The American secured her first victory in three meetings with the Australian after rain delays and repeated momentum shifts complicated a strong start.
Tomljanovic saved a match point while serving at 4–5 in the second set shortly before another interruption. On resumption she forced a decider, but eleven double faults across the match helped Anisimova establish a 4–0 lead in the final set.
The Australian recovered again after trailing 5–2, bringing the deciding set back on serve. Anisimova finally finished on her third match point with a backhand winner off a drive volley, advancing to face qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva as she pursued another Miami fourth-round appearance.
