Niels McDonald wins his biggest professional title at Varnamo
The German teenager followed his first professional trophy with an M25 victory in Sweden.
Source publication date:
Niels McDonald won the M25 Varnamo title, the largest professional tournament victory of his career at that point. The federation reported the 18-year-old’s achievement on 16 June.
The title followed his first professional success at M15 Rosbach earlier in June, giving him two World Tennis Tour titles in consecutive weeks. McDonald had won the Roland Garros boys’ singles championship in 2025 and previously reached junior world No. 4.
The official update projected a new ATP ranking high of No. 619 at the next rankings release, subject to intervening results. That projection is preserved as conditional, rather than presented as a subsequently verified ranking. The wins marked his transition from junior achievements to professional tour results.
