Real Madrid appoint Arbeloa as first-team coach
The club promoted its Castilla coach after five years in academy coaching roles.
Source publication date:
Real Madrid announced Álvaro Arbeloa as its new first-team coach. He had led Castilla since June 2025 after beginning his coaching career in the club’s academy in 2020.
His youth-team work included the under-14 and under-16 sides before three seasons with the under-19s. That under-19 team won a league, Copa del Rey and Champions Cup treble in 2022/23, followed by another league title in 2024/25.
Arbeloa had also played 238 official matches for Madrid between 2009 and 2016, winning eight trophies. The appointment statement established the promotion but did not specify a contract duration, so none is attributed to the new role.
