Ashley elected president of Ghana Chess Association
Christiana Naa Merley Ashley received 68 votes at the association’s February congress in Accra.

Christiana Naa Merley Ashley won the Ghana Chess Association presidential election with 68 votes, compared with 14 for David Acheampong. The association held its congress in Accra on 21 February, following the election process required by its constitution.
A three-member electoral committee chaired by Ambrose Amexo supervised voting between 10am and 3pm. After the results were announced, a senior representative of the Ghana Olympic Committee administered the oath to the newly elected executive council.
The congress also filled administrative, technical, financial and player representation posts. Clinton Cephas Fomevor won the technical vice presidency, while George Koomson Acheampong won the organising secretary contest. FIDE published the complete vote totals for the council.
