Atlanta Amputee Soccer won U.S. Soccer’s 2025 ADAPTandTHRIVE Disability Award, the federation announced on February 12. The award recognises the club’s work creating accessible football opportunities and developing a community for people with limb differences.

The project grew after Katie George met national-team player Jovan Booker at a U.S. Soccer leadership course in December 2023. Physiotherapist Daniel Copeland joined the founding group in February 2024, and the first clinic followed that June.

The club developed recreational and competitive pathways under the American Amputee Soccer Association. By 2025 it had seven core players, with clinics attracting double-digit attendance, and one participant had progressed to a national-team camp.
