Australia’s Para swimmers and powerlifters contributed medals on consecutive days of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Hani Watson earned powerlifting bronze on 26 July with a 147kg lift and 111.5 points, behind Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo and Rita Ferdinand.

The same day brought swimming golds for Jenna Jones in the women’s 100m freestyle S13, Tim Hodge in the men’s 100m backstroke S9 and Alex Saffy in the men’s 100m butterfly S10. Paralympics Australia reported ten Australian Para swimming medallists, a tally of athletes rather than ten gold medals.

On 27 July, Beau Matthews won the men’s 100m breaststroke SB9 in 1:09.41. New Zealand’s Joshua Willmer followed in 1:11.44, with Australia’s Hodge taking bronze in 1:12.74. Ullrich Muller added silver in the men’s 100m T38 with 11.19 seconds.

The official daily accounts confirm these specific results. They do not represent a final Australian medal tally for the entire Games, and wheelchair basketball teams still progressing through the competition were not described as champions.
