Australia defeated Türkiye 77-69 in the bronze-medal game of the 2026 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup on 5 July. It was the Australian team’s first podium finish in 12 years and its third medal, following silver in 2012 and 2014.

The visitors built a 22-point advantage in the second quarter, but Türkiye reduced the gap to six during the fourth. Australia retained enough control to close the game rather than letting the hosts complete their comeback.

Luke Paul finished with 19 points, ten rebounds and seven assists. William Hamilton scored 16, and Yahya Basaran added 14 points and ten rebounds. Australia’s 13 blocks matched the second-highest total in a tournament game.

Ömer Kutluay scored 32 for Türkiye and Darius Karutasu added 17. This was the completed third-place match, separate from the USA–Serbia championship final.
