Austria wins inaugural Olympic ski jumping super team
Hörl and Embacher led a competition shortened by a snowstorm in Predazzo.
Source publication date:
Jan Hörl and Stephan Embacher won the first Olympic men’s ski jumping super team title for Austria. Poland took silver and Norway bronze after a snowstorm forced cancellation of the final round, leaving the second-round standings as the result.
Hörl opened with a 137.5-metre jump worth 151.8 points, putting Austria more than ten points clear of its nearest rival in that group. The pair maintained the lead and secured Austria’s first ski jumping medal of Milano Cortina.
Poland’s Kacper Tomasiak and Paweł Wąsek moved into silver position during round two. The medal gave Tomasiak a third podium finish on his Olympic debut, while Embacher became an Olympic champion at his first Winter Games.
