Gruber’s relay move overturned the jumping deficit before Germany and Norway took medals.

Austria won the Nordic combined mixed team title at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer, improving on the previous year’s silver. David Thuer, Katharina Gruber, Eva-Maria Holzer and Andreas Gfrerer recovered from fourth after the jumping round to lead the subsequent fifteen-kilometre relay.
Germany had started first after all four athletes jumped at least eighty-five metres. Gruber moved Austria ahead on the second leg, and Holzer extended the advantage before Gfrerer completed the final section with the national flag as the team secured gold.
Germany’s Felix Brieden brought his team home for silver, while Norway’s Sverre Kumar Lundeby passed Slovenia late to claim bronze. Slovenia finished fourth and France fifth. Ukraine placed tenth in its first appearance in the junior mixed team competition.
