The EHF presented its 2025 beach handball Excellence Awards during the national-team draw programme in Vienna. Spain’s Asun Batista attended the ceremony, while German goalkeeper Oliver Middell sent a recorded message after being unable to travel.
Middell had helped Germany win their first men’s European beach handball title in 2025. He was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper and received the same positional award at the European Beach Tour Finals with 12 Monkeys Köln.
Batista collected the distinction for a second time, following recognition in 2023. Her latest award followed Spain’s European title-winning season. She credited teammates and coaches, and encouraged the young players attending the draw to enjoy their upcoming competition.
