Battocletti’s 3,000m gold takes Italy to three world indoor titles
A last-lap surge delivered Italy’s first women’s middle-distance world indoor title in Torun.

Battocletti won a tactical 3,000m final in 8:57.64, passing into the lead on the last lap. Emily Mackay took silver in 8:58.12 and Jessica Hull bronze in 8:58.18. It was Italy’s first women’s middle-distance title at the World Indoor Championships.
Nadia Battocletti and Zaynab Dosso won world indoor titles on the same evening in Torun. Their victories brought Italy to three gold medals, the country’s highest total at any outdoor or indoor World Championships.
Dosso followed with a 7.00 victory in the 60m. Jacious Sears and Julien Alfred both ran 7.03 for silver and bronze. After bronze in 2024 and silver in 2025, Dosso completed her progression to become Italy’s first female world sprint champion.
