Nadia Battocletti won a sixth consecutive Italian senior cross-country title at Selinunte, completing the women’s eight kilometres in 27:31. She moved clear in the final lap and finished ahead of Elvanie Nimbona’s 27:59 and Nicole Reina’s 28:21.

The victory came three days after Battocletti’s national indoor 3000m record in Liévin, adding another surface to her successful February programme. The race took place among the archaeological park’s temples on a gently undulating course.

Twins Osama and Ala Zoghlami secured the men’s titles. Osama won the ten-kilometre long-course race in 30:49 for his first championship at the distance, while Ala took the three-kilometre short-course crown in 8:36, his fifth win in six years.
