Batumi’s new World Cadets Cup approaches entry deadline
The renamed event becomes the qualifying stage in FIDE’s under-eight to under-twelve cycle.
Source publication date:
FIDE reminded national federations that entries for the inaugural World Cadets Cup close on 15 April. Batumi will host the competition from 15 to 28 June, with separate tournaments for boys and girls in the under-eight, under-ten and under-twelve categories.
The cup replaces the event previously called the World Cadet Championship for those age groups. Its playing format remains unchanged, but it now serves as the qualifying competition for World Cadets Championships later in the year, where the titles are decided.
Each federation may nominate one invited player for every age-and-gender category and a head of delegation with a valid FIDE identity. Additional invited places cover previous podium finishers and continental champions, while extra entries require organiser confirmation.
