The former captain will begin his first-team role in March.
Source publication date:
Gateshead appointed former captain Ben Clark as a first-team coach within Rob Elliot's staff. He was scheduled to begin the role at the start of March after completing his existing duties with the club's foundation.
Clark had worked as the foundation's full-time community officer since June 2022, following earlier duties that included coaching the under-19 side. As a player, he made 280 Gateshead appearances and captained the team at Wembley during the 2014 Conference Premier playoff final.
He also served as interim manager in 2019 and for two matches in October 2024. Clark said he had missed matchday involvement and looked forward to helping the squad improve its performances and results through work during the week.
