Biathlon’s Forest of Champions earns 1,281 trees

Twenty-five nations contributed to the first season of the IBU and Viessmann campaign.

The International Biathlon Union and climate partner Viessmann reported that their inaugural Forest of Champions campaign earned 1,281 trees. The initiative linked each appearance at an award ceremony to one tree, covering competition series from the World Cup through the Junior Cup and Para Biathlon World Cup.

Planting was planned for spring 2026 in the Untersberg region near the federation’s headquarters in Anif. Athletes representing twenty-five nations contributed, with France leading the final country standings on 322 trees, ahead of Norway on 200 and Germany on 153.

Eric Perrot generated twenty trees, the largest individual contribution. Lou Jeanmonnot and Sturla Holm Laegreid each earned seventeen, while Sweden and Italy completed the leading five national totals.
