CSM Bucuresti coach Bojana Popovic discussed the team’s recovery in an EHF interview after a difficult opening to the Champions League season. The club had won five consecutive matches, including three under her guidance, after losing four of its first six group games.

Popovic replaced Adrian Vasile during the winter break and brought experience of six Champions League titles as a player. Her appointment also followed an assistant role with Denmark, giving her familiarity with several members of CSM’s internationally varied squad.

She identified balancing players returning tired from the World Championship with teammates lacking competition as an early challenge. Although the club wanted to end seven successive quarter-final exits, Popovic urged gradual progress and cautioned against assuming that improved form would automatically deliver a Final Four place.
