Bosnia and Herzegovina eliminate Italy on penalties
A late equaliser and four successful spot kicks secure a World Cup return.

Bosnia and Herzegovina qualified for their second World Cup by beating Italy 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Zenica. The hosts recovered from Moise Kean's early goal to secure their first finals appearance since 2014.
Italy lost Alessandro Bastoni to a first-half red card but maintained their advantage until Haris Tabaković equalised in the 79th minute. He converted the rebound after Gianluigi Donnarumma stopped an Edin Džeko header. Extra time produced no further goal.
Bosnia and Herzegovina converted all four penalties, with Esmir Bajraktarević delivering the decisive kick. Pio Esposito missed and Bryan Cristante hit the bar for Italy. The winners join Canada, Qatar and Switzerland in World Cup Group B.
