Brea and Triay win Gijón marathon as Chingotto and Galán take men’s crown
Both winning partnerships reversed defeats from the season’s opening Premier Padel event.
Source publication date:
Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay won the Gijón P2 women’s title after a three-hour, three-minute final. Their 6–4, 6–7, 6–3 victory over Andrea Ustero and Ari Sánchez reversed the Riyadh final result and gave the partnership its tenth title together.
The championship came a year after Brea and Triay’s first joint trophy, also won in Gijón. A break in the eighth game of the deciding set settled their latest final, ending a sequence of five lost finals and their wait since victory in Rotterdam.
Federico Chingotto and Alejandro Galán defeated Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia 7–5, 7–6 in the men’s final. They won the second-set tiebreak 7–3, ending their opponents’ run of four straight head-to-head victories. Galán was named the final’s most valuable player.
