Breakers appoint Georgiu chief executive
The former Perth executive begins immediately, overseeing the Auckland club’s business operations.
Source publication date:
New Zealand appointed Troy Georgiu as chief executive of the Breakers, with immediate responsibility for the club’s business operations. Basketball and performance oversight remained with president of basketball operations Dillon Boucher, whose role continued separately.
Georgiu previously spent a decade as Perth’s commercial manager before serving as Wildcats chief executive from 2017 to 2022. He had worked as a specialist business adviser during the preceding three years. Chairman Marc Mitchell said a global search identified him as the preferred candidate.
The appointment carried a mandate to strengthen commercial performance, community engagement and the club’s wider sporting profile. Georgiu said his priority was to build an effective front office and deepen connections with fans while supporting the organisation’s pursuit of championships.
