Breakers begin roster planning after mixed season
Boucher identified contract flexibility and rebuilding priorities following the Ignite Cup victory.
Source publication date:
New Zealand began planning its next NBL roster after winning the Ignite Cup but missing the league finals. Basketball operations president Dillon Boucher described the overall season as disappointing and said the club would examine where it needed to strengthen.
Boucher said a relatively small contracted group provided flexibility for the next campaign. Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Izayah Le’afa and Reuben Te Rangi were among the retained players, with club options covering Max Darling and Taylor Britt. Head coach Petteri Koponen was also out of contract.
The February report attributed the planning comments to Boucher’s interview with the New Zealand Herald. He said late-season performance and behaviour would inform renewal decisions, outlining a review and roster strategy rather than announcing specific signings or departures.
