Federica Brignone won Olympic women’s super-G in Cortina d’Ampezzo, delivering Italy’s first alpine gold of the Games. The victory came ten months after she suffered a double leg fracture and only weeks after her return to competition.

France’s Romane Miradoli claimed silver and Austria’s Cornelia Hütter took bronze. Brignone built an early lead of 0.76 seconds over the previous benchmark and remained ahead as the rest of the field completed their runs.

The Italian had approached the Games uncertain about which disciplines she could contest while managing her recovery. Her successful super-G run converted that recent comeback into an Olympic title at a home venue, with the host nation represented on the top step.
