Great Britain defeated Serbia 10–9 to take ninth place at the European women’s water polo championships in Funchal. Katy Cutler scored the winner with twenty-three seconds remaining after the British team had overcome a four-minute exclusion imposed on Izzy Howe.

Lily Turner scored four goals for Britain, while an earlier Cutler effort was disallowed. Germany defeated host Portugal 13–12 in the eleventh-place match, leaving the Portuguese team twelfth after another classification final decided by a single goal.

Türkiye beat Switzerland 19–8 to finish thirteenth, and Slovakia defeated Romania 16–12 for fifteenth. Monika Sedlakova scored nine goals in Slovakia’s victory, matching the tournament’s highest individual match total established by Kitty Lynn Joustra against Switzerland.
