Source publication date:
The Faroe Islands women drew 1-1 with Cyprus in a friendly at Ethnikos Achnas Stadium. Anna Caroline Brændstrup equalised in the 73rd minute as the visiting team completed its final match rehearsal before beginning qualification for the 2027 World Cup.
Cyprus had taken the lead after approximately fifteen minutes and remained ahead at halftime. The Faroese team held substantial possession and controlled much of the game but found it difficult to turn opportunities into goals before Brændstrup’s second-half breakthrough.
The draw concluded a training camp in Cyprus before the squad travelled to Greece for its opening qualifier. Greece were scheduled to host the Faroes in Crete, with Georgia making up the third team in the Faroese side’s Group C4 qualifying programme.
