Cai completes three-gold Paralympic biathlon campaign
Sprint pursuit’s Games debut also brought historic Kazakh and Czech titles.

Jiayun Cai won the men’s standing sprint pursuit by two-tenths of a second over Grygorii Vovchynskyi, completing three biathlon gold medals at Milano Cortina. The Chinese athlete became the second para biathlete to win all three starts at a single Paralympic Winter Games.
Sprint pursuit made its Paralympic debut through qualification followed by a pursuit final. Yerbol Khamitov won the men’s sitting event by twenty-one seconds over Taras Rad, securing Kazakhstan’s first Paralympic biathlon gold. Carina Edlingerová delivered Czechia’s first title in the sport through the women’s vision impaired race.
Kendall Gretsch and Natalie Wilkie won the women’s sitting and standing finals respectively. China’s Shuang Yu won the men’s vision impaired race as the programme concluded.
