Caicedo goal gives Colombia SheBelieves victory

Linda Caicedo scored the winning goal as Colombia defeated Argentina 1-0 at the SheBelieves Cup. The Colombian team improved after a balanced first half, pushing higher up the field and increasing pressure on the Argentine defence during the second period.

Goalkeeper Katherine Tapia kept Colombia level before the interval by stopping Argentina’s advances. The decisive move began with a midfield recovery, continued through Leicy Santos and Daniela Montoya, and reached Caicedo, who exchanged passes with Santos before lifting her finish over the goalkeeper.

The result gave Colombia a victory before their closing fixture against the United States on 7 March. The starting lineup also included Manuela Vanegas, Jorelyn Carabalí, Daniela Arias and Valerin Loboa as Colombia continued its three-match tournament programme.
