Canada advance past Germany as Poulin returns and ties the scoring record
The Canadian captain scored her eighteenth career Olympic goal in the quarter-final.

Canada defeated Germany 5–1 to reach the Olympic women’s hockey semi-finals. An early lead allowed the Canadians to manage the contest, while captain Marie-Philip Poulin returned after missing two games with a leg injury and showed no visible skating limitations.
Poulin scored in the third period for her first goal of the tournament and eighteenth in Olympic competition, tying Hayley Wickenheiser’s career record. Brianne Jenner had opened the scoring after only 1:40 following a pass from Emma Maltais.
Germany’s tournament ended with a seventh-place finish after the countries’ first Olympic meeting. German players praised their effort despite conceding early, while Canada welcomed further progress and the return of its captain before the semi-finals scheduled for the following Monday in Milan.
