Canada beat Colombia in SheBelieves opener

Canada defeated Colombia 4-1 in the opening match of Colombia’s SheBelieves Cup campaign at GEODIS Park in Nashville. Angelo Marsiglia’s women’s team began its tournament programme on 1 March, with captain Leicy Santos supplying its goal from the penalty spot.
Colombia retained possession and created attacking opportunities during an intense first half, according to the federation’s match report. The Canadian team nevertheless finished with a three-goal winning margin, leaving Colombia with a defeat in their first assignment of the competition.
Katherine Tapia started in goal, supported by defenders including Daniela Caracas, Ana María Guzmán, Daniela Arias and Manuela Vanegas. Linda Caicedo, Manuela Paví and Valerin Loboa were also selected in the initial eleven as Colombia opened its American tournament visit.
