Carlow’s athletics development squad outlined its programme of additional training for club athletes aged twelve and over. Volunteer coaches from local clubs deliver twice-weekly sessions at South East Technological University’s South Sports Campus, complementing athletes’ regular club activities.
The group focuses on sprints, hurdles and middle-distance running, with introductory sessions in javelin and race walking. Its stated priorities include friendships between clubs, enjoyment and long-term athlete development alongside preparation for local, regional and national competitions.
The federation’s February profile also reviewed training camps in Spain and Athlone and testing at the National Indoor Arena. Further camps were planned for 2026, while guest sessions from Irish junior and senior athletes provided additional practical experience.
