UCAM Cartagena completed a major turnaround to reach the women’s Champions League final four. After losing its first quarterfinal encounter 3–0 at Saint-Quentin, the Spanish team won the home return 3–1 and then secured the additional golden match that decided the tie.

Maria Xiao defeated Linda Bergstrom to begin the recovery. Polina Mikhailova levelled against Tin Tin Ho, but Qi Fei beat Camille Lutz and Xiao won a five-game contest against Mikhailova to produce the required return-leg margin.

In the golden match, Qi took the opening game against Mikhailova 15–13. Xiao then beat Bergstrom 11–6 to complete a 2–0 success, sending Cartagena into the four-team championship weekend after its difficult start.
