Caruana accepted two pawn sacrifices before trapping Wei Yi’s bishop and forcing an early resignation. Sindarov’s game involved a piece sacrifice for two pawns, with the decisive phase arriving as Praggnanandhaa struggled with the clock.
Kateryna Lagno beat Tan Zhongyi with a mating combination, and Bibisara Assaubayeva defeated Zhu Jiner. Those victories put them jointly ahead in the women’s tournament, while the other two women’s games ended in draws.
