Casoni breaks Italian under-20 indoor 800m record
The eighteen-year-old ran 1:48.55 in Padua for his third youth record of the season.

Alessandro Casoni improved Italy’s under-20 indoor 800m record to 1:48.55 in Padua. The eighteen-year-old replaced Simone Barontini’s 1:49.40 from 2017 and cut more than two seconds from his own previous best of 1:50.83.
The performance was Casoni’s third national under-20 record of the indoor season, following 2:21.43 over 1000m and 4:06.56 for the mile. It also came one week after he won the Italian junior 1500m title in Ancona.
Alice Muraro improved her indoor 400m best to 53.19 at the same meeting. Alessia Seramondi recorded 53.83 in another heat to finish second overall, with Linda Olivieri and Raphaela Lukudo also among the leading women in the event.
