CEV president Roko Sikirić and managing director Vuk Karanović met European Commissioner Glenn Micallef in Brussels to discuss volleyball’s contribution to European sport and society. The meeting addressed preservation of the European sport model and opportunities to extend cooperation through education and related programmes.

CEV’s existing work with European Union support includes school participation, governance and sustainability projects. Its school initiative has received Erasmus+ funding and involved children, families, coaches and physical education teachers across about thirty countries, providing an established basis for the discussion.

The parties also agreed to cooperate around Europe Day on 9 May, using the celebration to promote teamwork, respect and fair play among young people and their surrounding communities.
